Warthogs Win 1998 Continental Division Championship!
On Sunday, October 18th, the Warthogs defeated the Diamondbacks 5-3 at T-Winkle park in Costa Mesa to win the MSBL Continental Division Championship. The game was very exciting. Both teams scored early with the D-backs scoring 2 in the bottom of the first and the Hogs coming right back and scoring 4 in the top of the second. The Hogs pitcher, Steve, settled down and gave up one more run before running out of gas in the seventh. Fred then came in and held the D-backs scoreless for the final 2 2/3 innings. The Hogs pitchers were helped by great defense. The Hogs infield turned three double plays, the outfield tracked down numerous fly balls, Brian threw out a base runner, and Steve helped himself by picking off a runner. On offense, everyone seemed to contribute with every player reaching on a walk or a hit. Craig had 2 RBIs, while Fred, Rob, and Steve each had one. The victory was truly a team effort.

For the 1999 season, the Warthogs hope to add a couple of players and move up to either the International Division of the MSBL or the Open division.
