Really, there was a lot of roleplaying and gaming going on in ancient times, or with ancients and people who had been around for millenia, and things having to do with the dawn of civilization... so everywhere I looked I was seeing things that were not-so-subtle reminders of this. Here is another example. I took a picture of the side of the display, but not the glass itself; something I somewhat regret now. But at the time I remember not caring, being very laissez faire about the whole thing and just wanting to point out that glass was invented in Mesopotamia.

That could lead to another digression entirely about Mesopotamia, from building Crete—yes, I know Mesopotamia isn't in Crete. But when building Crete for a MUD (never finished, went onto MUXing before I got it deployed even though it was done in development save for a few dozen room descriptions. Sigh.)... I just remember it standing out that 'potomos' was river. And my mind running around to link that to Potomac. But anyway, there was a period of my life where I took great pleasure in being described as Mesopotamian. It's an in-joke for sure, and for those who know enough about the gods of that particular region, well... I had fun being arbitrary with power as a god on a MUD.

Anyway, silly as it might be, one of my characters in some game was Mesopotamian too, and somewhat arrogant and precocious, and would often go about teasing that she invented writing, and any number of other things that were invented in that region. And so when I learned that glass was also invented, it gave me another thing to be silly about. 'I invented glass.' Shades of inventing the Internet I suppose.
